Evan Metropoulos Shares Pabst Blue Ribbon Commercial

Evan Metropoulos

Evan Metropoulos Charity Work With Paul Newman

When he was 16, Evan Metropoulos became the youngest corporate executive in the food industry (for Bumble Bee Tuna). Now, he co-owns Pabst Brewing Company, the oldest privately owned brewing company in the United States. Yes, his life has been filled with heady accomplishments.

But one of the proudest times of his life is when he participated with Paul Newman is a charity that Newman founded—the Hole in the Wall Camp.

Like almost everyone else, Evan Metropoulos was well aware of Paul Newman’s stardom. But what he didn’t really know was his commitment to charitable activities. It turns out that he was an actor who was committed to helping the less fortunate.

That’s why he founded the Hole in the Wall Camp in 1988.

This camp, located in Newman’s state of Connecticut, serves children suffering from such debilitating diseases as cancer and sickle cell anemia. It is open all year long and provides a safe place for children to enjoy sporting activities—such as swimming and golf—that healthy children take for granted. In addition, this camp hosts both summer and weekend programs to help these children and their families cope with these illnesses.

The Hole in the Wall Camp also has outreach programs in hospitals and clinics located in surrounding states. This increases the services of this charity tremendously.

Evan Metropoulos is proud to support this camp now and when Paul Newman was alive. One of his fondest memories, in fact, is working beside the actor in this charity.

Even though Paul Newman is no longer alive, his legacy lives on. He had a heart that was even bigger than his stardom, and Evan intends to honor the star’s memory by continuing his own support of the Hole in the Wall Camp.
